<p>Although most articles pertaining to this seem somewhat overly jargonistic,  it appears they are going to use a VoIP network to join some 1600 regional offices together as one large contact (call?) centre. This would presumably enable all 55,000 of the SSA&#8217;s geographically dispersed field staff to participate in what would appear to the outside world to be one unified call centre.</p>
<p>The Social Security Administration&#8217;s telephony replacement project is scheduled to take ten years and cost $300 million.</p>
