			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>UK Communications regulator Ofcom has proposed that UK Voice over IP networks should all have a 999 (UK emergency number) facility. Ofcom&#8217;s <a href="http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/voip/voipservices/">recent research</a> suggests that while some UK VoIP providers offer the facility, some home VoIP users of other suppliers may not be aware that they cannot make a 999 call.</p>
<p>Ofcom is said to be working closely with their European counterparts to develop comprehensive VoIP access to emergency services across Europe.</p>
